Answer : egr valve a round "valve" (has one hose coming from top, one from side) on top of throttle body. actually, bolted with two bolts to rear of throttle body. if don't know a throttle body is, look for pulley moves press gas pedal (with engine off). answer if remember correctly....there no egr valve on a 2000 camry. if there however be last guy said. answer link below to a picture of egr valve for a 2000 camry 4-cyl. engine with an automatic transmission. bolted to back side of intake manifold with two bolts, and to a flange at top of a steel tube running up from exhaust system with another two bolts. http://catalog.autohausaz.com/autohausaz/image.jsp?title=egr%20valve&url=http%3a//img.eautopartscatalog.com/liveb7010168929oes.jpg
Q: thermostat located and replace located on a 1990 toyota camry 3s-fe 4 cylinder?
Answer : aswer on model thermostat be found by following lower radiator hose to attaches to engine. hose typically attached to a fitting behind a gasket and thermostat. gasket needs to be replaced thermostat replaced. general procedure: make sure engine cool. loosen hose clamp lower radiator hose attaches to engine - pull forward. place clean pan under hose to catch coolant might spill out. pull hose off. catch coolant in pan. remove bolts on fitting hose attached to. remove gasket. remove thermostat (note positioned and side facing out before removing -- there may be an alignment notch). install new thermostat (the way original sitting, with little "barbell" at 12:00) and gasket. re-attach hose fitting w/bolts. re-attach hose and clamp. put coolant spilled out back in radiator. start engine and allow to warm up and check for leaks. note - if need to remove alternator so as to access nuts holding thermostat cover remember to disconnect battery before removing alternator leads to prevent shorting. good post on parts location and repair procedure. only thing i'd like to add antifreeze a limited life before loses it's ph balance and turn acidic or base, either one cause corrosion in cooling system. loss of additives also cause cooling system to start acting as a ground conductor damage cooling system. there different ideas on to change, try to change mine every 3 years or 24k miles. if want there test strips to check ph balance, protection temp and phosphate levels (prevent oxygen molecules from collecting around cylinder liners and etching them - usually more problematic on diesels). hth, dave

Q: remove ball joint on a 96 toyota camry le?
Answer : 1996 camry ball joint removal 1. jack car up , put on safety stands, etc., etc. 2. unlock steering so manipulate wheel hub / spindle assembly as needed. 3. remove wheel. 4. on bottom of spindle & attached to lower control arm ball joint. 5. first remove cotter pin from castellated nut on ball joint. may have to clean to find it. ( soak good with some pb blaster or penetrating lubricant at stage) 6. loosen castellated nut. (you not be able to get nut completely off at stage because blocked by cv joint) be a 17mm - you'll need good quality open end wrench to prevent rounding off nut. (once nut loose, work back and forth to get penetrating oil into threads so easier to deal with) 7. on bottom of control arm 2 nuts need to be removed, and a third on top of control arm. (on some vehicles may be rivets need to be drilled or ground off) 8. once have control arm disconnected from ball joint be able to get ball joint loose from spindle. - use a ball joint fork, goes between top of ball joint boot and bottom of spindle and struck on end with a hammer. or - use a ball peen hammer to strike side of spindle ball joint bolt passes through spindle. 9.the ball joint drop. 10.now remove castellated nut. find a pair of needle nose vise grips useful for holding tapered shank of ball joint bolt so doesn't turn while removing nut. 11. install new ball joint into lower control arm first. hint. a large pry bar inserted into one of holes towards rear of lower control arm allow to push lower control arm down far enough manuever spindle assembly into place over ball joint bolt so pops into hole more easily. following statement here before edit, so heed if like, but an alignment not necessary, due to fact ball joint not an adjustable front-end geometry point. all replacement ball joints be made to same specification. never hurt, but not an absolute need. *after replacing ball joint need to get a front end alignment because have altered suspension geometry with a new component.*
Q: timing marks on cam and crank located on a toyota camry 4cl 2.0?
Answer : cam mark behind pulley on oil seal plate towards top of seal looks like a small line indentation. rotate pulley clockwise until see well then take yellow model paint and brush a little into dent. now find hole that's in one of spokes on pulley. turning pulley clockwise line hole up with timing mark be able to look through hole and see yellow timing mark. heres tricky part can't look through and see because theres a fender in way if don't have engine out. use a telescoping mirror and a flashlight put mirror down in there facing hole with angle so see it, shine flashlight into mirror reflect and show inside of hole. turn pulley until see yellow mark lined up with hole in pulley spoke. crank a little more tricky there a mark on back edge of pulley. turning clockwise line up with 0 mark on belt housing cover, but prefer to pull spark plug in #1 cylinder closest cylinder to timing belt and put a 2 foot wooden dowel down into it. then turn crank with a strap wrench until piston reaches tdc "top dead center" point wooden dowel reaches it's highest point before dropping back down. remember turn clockwise.i went through misery with a 1991 3sfe trying to time cam. there 4 deep cuts in camshaft bearing cap, one round mark in cap lines up perfectly with timing hole, and then there small cut(i think triangular),in edge of cap correct timing mark. not use circular mark at about 9 o'clock. correct mark appears at about 11:00 o'clock but in reality at 12:00 on engine because engine mounts at a slight angle in camry. engine extremely sensitive to timing setting. miss by one tooth on then belt and may not start. be sure to turn crank a couple of times clockwise and check cam again after initial belt install to be sure haven't taken up some slack from wrong side upon release of tensioner.

Q: replace alternator on a 1989 toyota camry?
Answer : it's simple but a little hard getting back in place because of belt. take two people. use a socket wrench if not in too tight, otherwise you'll need an impact socket wrench. first remove small bolt on top (it have an obvious cover easily removed.) then lossen bolt right in front attached to a brace. there also a pin-like bolt on side of alternator towards top (right by belt). there may be another bolt on right side, but don't recall. finish removing front bolt and then work pin in back out. once pin out may have to tug a bit to get alternator out because it's usually in pretty tight. that's it. ready to replace it, need to loop belt back over pulley and make sure lined up on two pulleys below. need someone to push alternator up to keep in place while put bolts back in. difficult because belt tight (or be!). used an old axe handle underneath to get leverage needed. be sure don't let handle or leverage tool rest on radiator or might cause damage. shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to take out and about to put back in.<ul><li>to replace alternator:</li></ul> -disconnect negative battery cable; -unplug 3 wire connection on back side of unit; -carefully pop up plastic cover on b terminal, remove nut using 10 mm wrench, and lift ring connector from stud; -break loose pivot bolt using 14 mm socket and flex-bar; -loosen tensioning bracket bolt 14 mm; -loosen 12 mm locking bolt(horizontal one); -remove 12 mm tensioner bot(vertical, long one); -push alternator down and slip belt off pulley ; _completely remove pivot and locking bolts; pull alternator out of mounting bracket, if necessary, gently pry between bracket and alternator. installation in reverse order. use tensioner bolt to adjust drive belt tension.torque bolts to 18 lb*ft

Q: cause a toyota camry to hesitate taking off and act like wants to die?
Answer : i'm obviously not only one. gettin camry 94 checked out at moment. toyota computer didn't show any reading out of range so don't want to deal with problem unless wallet fit. with mine completely random. at toyota said a case like before but a constant lack of power. solved by replacing actual distributer (not cap or rotor but electronic component). it's to expensive to give a try though. have fun! spent a fortune chasing a cold start plus engine heat up time, low engine rpm stalling issue happened in wet weather in a 87 camry? seemed like once choke equivalent function stopped engine couldn't cope and only run if kept above 2000 rpm. no expert find cause simple. new plugs! must have a humidity prone short - perhaps a result of spark plug layout.
Q: replace thermostat located on a 1999 dodge intrepid?
Answer : on 2.7 and 3.2 engines, thermostat located at end of lower radiator hose, behind power steering pump. involves draining coolant, removal of lower hose and the thermostat attached to it. on 3.2l engines, have to remove oil filter as well. there a heater hose attached to thermostat housing at block to be removed also. a 2 inch long piece of rubber hose, and loosen clamp on one side of it. once have both hoses off, remove thermostat housing, and thermostat. 2 bolts with 10mm heads. make sure replace gasket and clean surface. not common for thermostat to go bad on cars so check water pump if have a 2.7l engine, and inspect rest of system to make sure there no problems elsewhere/. real life note -- if noticing dripping on ground safely lift car and inspect underside. if coolant coming out a small hole (weep hole) next to thermostat housing, means water pump leaking and needs to be brought to a mechanic. (major job involving lots of work and removal of many parts - not job for weekend mechanic sorry) on hand if see coolant dripping from thermostat housing that's a $30.00 fix. replace gasket and buy a new thermostat since got apart. 2001 dodge intrepid water pump went bad at 51000 miles and gasket started leaking at 70000 miles. water pump cost me $500.00 - gasket myself. if want to make yourself feel better most likely intrepid paid for by now and $500.00 for a fix a new car payment on a decent car. if have to put $500.00 in car now to fix it.- heck paid for.

Q: reset a check engine light on a 1996 toyota camry le?
Answer : first, if something like a loose gas cap, tighten and reset itself in next 100 miles or so. if something else, like a leaky gas cap never reset. but to reset onboarddiagnostic (obd)computer... go to ebay and search "obdii" and buy one, run about $50.00 including shipping. there two types, iso for chrysler and some japanese, and one for all like ford and gm. there several both, kind want. be sure to email ebay seller and ask if used with year and model. (1996 a changeover year for obdii technology, so advice may not apply to everybody--but dealer service guy tell over phone--ask him if obdii compliant.) get it, plug in and let cycle 4 or 5 times and resets everything. then have to drive car for 50 to 100 miles for onboard computer to test everything, and in meantime car fail smog checks because no history in computer and smog test procedure demands a history even if there no pollution. cut and paste http://search.ebay.com/obdii for a list of them for sale on ebay. most units come with a list of generic fault codes so tell problem is, be helpful.

Q: replace a driver's side speaker on 1997 toyota camry?
Answer : cruthfeild website only an ad page --> go to www.cruthfeild.com get install info and buy new speakers if don't know to remove inside door panel, link helpful: http://autorepair.about.com/od/otherodddiyjobs/l/aa092504a.htm. in addition to advice at above site, found another trick to removing trim around inside door handle. above article refers to putting a screwdriver under door handle and pushing down ... to release a "secret latch". that's first step. second step (which not in article) to insert scredriver above door handle ... vertically above spot in above article. then gently press screwdriver handle down. with screwdriver acting as a lever, tip of screwdriver push up on top part of trim. lift trim up off a small pin on handle mechanism. with both bottom and top of trim piece now "unlatched", slide trim toward back of car, while open inside door handle (as mentioned in article). trim come right off. be sure to slide trim toward back of car, as move trim away from door panel. (there a "hooked" piece of plastic on back of trim prevents from pulling out perpendicular to door panel.) 'hope fine points help. ps. 1996 camry 2 screws on bottom of door also holding interior door panel in place. wasnt in article.
Q: replace bulb for instrument panel lights on a '92 chevy corsica?
Answer : there three little screws under headlight switch/knob thing, and three screws under wiper control knob/switch thingy... take out. place both hands on top of dash and pull towards you, and pop off... not be afraid to pull... ok, then unplug wires to headlight switch, and then same to two plugs connected to wipers. set dash on passenger seat for now... ok! step one! easy! now need to take out black, (not gold) screws, and pull out instrument panel, also don't be afraid to give a nice tug too,... now, with panel in hands, flip over backside and marvel cool looks... then find 4(i think)light bulbs!!! there one indented in center, one to right, one to left... about 1/2 in. wide and round... now... realized that not problem... bulbs not burnt out... check fuses (drivers side, with door open, inside dash, with a cover says 'fuses' on :)... did ages ago... as said #15 or something instrument panel (3 watts) turned out to be s.i.r fuse.
Q: change brakes and rotors on a 1997 toyota camry 4 cylinder?
Answer : doesn't anyone believe in going to library to look at a manual? there a difference between rear drum brakes and front disc brakes. if didn't wait until brakes down to steel backing plates, need to replace rotors? even if have normal wear don't need to be replaced - don't even need to be turned. disc brakes a piece of cake - use a big screwdriver to push caliper pistons back (make sure didn't add brake fluid as level dropped because may overflow push back piston), take out a couple of bolts to pull off caliper, knock out retaining pins, pull out old pads - put in new pads... and 15 minutes later, you're done. back drum brakes be good for about 100k... they're a pain to change if don't have tools (worse case a visegrip works) and cost three times as much, but everyone makes a big deal out of disc brakes and charges whatever get away with. good advise above. on disc, use ceramics (won't squeal, last longer) and not lose seemingly useless small v-shaped wire tension clips if included in assembly.

Q: turn off a 1998 toyota camery lxe check light?
Answer : disconnnect battery cable for about 2 minutes my 2 cents " check engine light" by far one of most misunderstood technological advances a warning light illuminated there a problem affecting emissions of vehicle.. don't let bother as a good thing once understand it. one point brought up a recent meeting of technicians amount of hydrocarbons greater gas cap left off than engine running. hydrocarbons part of pollution emitted as gasoline evaporates. going a step farther, one facet of emission system "evaporative" portion. fumes from gasoline leaking from system into outside air. one part of emission system trigger a check engine light. say a small percentage of vehicles have a check engine light result of a loose or inadequate gas cap. but understand scenarios possible with "check engine light" vehicle's powertrain computer (note some vehicles have multiple computers aside from powertain computer) run a series of self-tests. only run under certain criteria. and different from manufacturer to manufacturer. some self-tests or monitors not run until preceding ones have run successfully. so if there a problem in one particular area preventing another self test from running, have a situation one problem fixed, but another still exists. if fix a problem and drive car through a drive cycle sets monitor (or self test) light go off as passes criteria triggered in first place. there different sources for light to come on. anything caused combustion to fail, commonly called a misfire set light. various sensors such as oxygen sensors evaluate exhaust before and after gases burned in converter. transmission codes may set check engine light to appear. if car running okay, get fixed in a reasonable amount of time such as within month. probably save fuel if do. however if check engine light flashing, be driving as damage being done to converter. some emission components covered beyond standard warranty. converter for example covered up to 80,000 miles by manufacturer. after 1996, auto industry went to a idea called obd ii (on board diagnostics). to get all manufacturers onto a similar plane for troubleshooting and powertrain control. while still differ, corrections and adaptations made for technicians to better fix check engine light problems. prior to there so different and poor troubleshooting data from a check engine light problem resolving problem more difficult. early warning light of nature set to illuminate based on mileage. an oxygen sensor one of things meant to be replaced mileage hit. like current "change oil lights set based on a pre-set mileage. to start testing for check engine light, youll need to find codes from computer, match code to troubleshooting procedure, follow procedure to find source. repair source, light go out if only problem. there "monitors" or self tests computer runs car through a drive cycle, if a problem occurs, may not run all of self tests until problem taken care. there self-tests for oxygen sensor circuit, egr system, evaporative system to name a few. therefore, another problem may exist. emission related. or hook up a scanner capable of clearing codes, and hope wont come back on. but dont bet on it. lastly, disconnecting battery in some cars clear memory of computer and may temporarily turn light off. beware may also cause problems such as car not rembering its idle and have to relearn it, radio may be rendered inoperative or in case of new toyotas, air bag blow.
Q: causes p0300 p0302 p0303 and p0304 on-board diagnostic codes for a 1997 toyota camry?
Answer : engine misfires. p0300 corresponds to misfires random among all cylinders, whereas p0301-p0306 correspond to specific cylinders. i'm not an expert, but posts have read seem to suggest because getting misfires across more than one cylinder, it's probably something like ignition coil, distributor, etc. !

(the replacement) be a two man operation regardless of tools of choice. may find a special tool for but to use effectively need to dis-assemble more of wheel assembly necessary if using wood/sledge approach. common sense be applied during all stages of frustration. good luck!

(good guidance, want to add a couple missing things. under throttle body 2 coolant lines tied in come off as well as three electrical connections on driver side of plenum and 2 underneath come off as lift it. left middle rear bolt out as instructed and makes sense to reduce time needed for future plug/cable work. also, recommend changing all plug wires while going through so trouble. for me a failed cable on cylinder 4(front middle). thank for post, suv runs great.) get rid of thing total crap

Answer : well first need to take off door panel, then there two 10mm bolts hold handle on, remove and diconect bar for lock and come out. -- hah funny, good one. remove door panel and it's impossible to reach bolts. so now, thanks to vague answer, door panel off and, as usual, won't go back on correctly. maybe don't have proper tools...or long skinny alien arms reach into tiny dark spaces to left. replaced front driver side door handle on 96 camry - here's story: 1 - take door panel off. a screws and a couple of clips. inside door handle trim needs to be removed as well - tricky, latch for trim on bottom left side, so be careful prying out - broke mine. disconnect power cable to windows/door switch panel. make sure window up. 2 - ok, here saw 3 10mm bolts hold door handle and panic set in. one relatively easy to get to a straight line thru door's sheetmetal (there a hole), but third way inside. after about 30 min struggling with getting a ratched in there proceeded to get to 2 bolts and lo and behold handle popped out. there only 2 bolst holding handle to door frame, third bolt hold lock to door handle. 3 - pull handle out (you may have to wiggle handle a bit, place a rag between handle and door to avoid scratches), unbolt 3rd 10mm bolt. remove rod attached to door handle, to break funny plastic clip holds rod to door handle. 4 - bolt 3rd bolt to new handle. attach rod to handle thru plastic clip - be extra careful here, not want to break plastic clip - be hard to find. used plier to gently push rod thru plastic hole and than swung clip's clamp to latch onto rod. push/wiggle handle back in place. bolt two 10mm bolts from inside door. 5- connect wiring harness to windows/door switch. attach panel back. took me a little more than an hour to this, including panic time.

Q: correctly replace water pump and timing belt on a 1998 dodge durango?
Answer : ==new answer headline==this question not too involved to answer here. takes some explaining as with any repair by home mechanic. 1. remove serpentine belt by rotating main tensioner clockwise. may want to leave on to apply pressure loosening nut for fan, however not always work. 2. 4 bolts retain fan shroud. simply loosen but not remove all of bolts until fan nut loose. 3. there supposed to be four bolts on water pump pulley to apply counter pressure with a 13mm wrench loosening fan nut (this nut reverse threads so it's not righty tighty, lefty loosey.) at point might want to remove idler pulley right above water pump to make following steps easier. 4. manual says need a special tool to loosen fan nut. couldn't buy at auto parts store because water pump pulley both on old one and new one did not have 4 bolts but unthreaded holes instead. dodge not tell me in situation or sell any special tools to customers. rude. so used a strap wrench and wrapped around pulley and held tight while unloosened fan nut. worked great. 5. once fan nut loose, remove bolts for shroud and lift fan and shroud out together. 6. there three hoses (on v8) need to be removed from water pump. need needle nose and pliers to this. 7. mark bolt at 12 o'clock on pump for reference and start loosening them a little at a time clockwise laying them down in order as different lengths. 8. remove water pump and get ready to start scraping gasket. upper part difficult to see but be persistant. wants to see a leak after all work. 9. water pump a coolant return hose need to be transfered to new pump and a new o-ring replaced included. 10. apply rtv high temp. silicone to new water pump and side of gasket faces engine. spread thin. to break habit of thinking more silicone=less chance of leaks. 11. install new pump and gasket and torque bolts in 1/4 turn increments. let silicone cure as instructed on package. 12. start working way back up list, reversing procedure, refill coolant leaving radiator cap off. start engine and turn on heater. add coolant mixture as necessary until full. check for leaks and hope new pump lasts a darn long time. question ask too involved for a proper answer. need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for car. cost about $16.00 or, go to a public library.

Answer : see related links below for a really good step by step guide. following some minor noted differences: armrest for 91 model a padded cover to be removed from top to access two of screws. pry cover up on side closest to front of car with a screwdriver and work way back. on back end a plastic hook release from forward movement of popping rest of cover up. inside door handle trim needs to be released in two places, not one shown. first release as shown by inserting a small screwdriver into crack between handle and bottom trim handle hinges and push up on screwdriver handle to release. then insert into crack between lock lever and top trim and push down on handle to release top side. then continue as shown in directions. note door handle trim one thing most trouble with. if don't know trick with screwdriver release then end up having to destroy trim to get off.
